Tea Sea

A tea sea is a special, usually wooden (less often stone, ceramic or porcelain) container used to catch excess tea during tea making = cup spillage, overflow, tipping, etc.

The top part is usually ribbed to allow the tea to drain easily, and at the same time it could hold cups, teapot, teapot, or tea ghosts or tea utensils.

The large tea seas also have a drain in the bottom, which can be pulled out as a drawer for easier handling, and a collection container. This significantly prolongs the spill interval of the collected tea during a long tea ceremony.
