Third Flush (TF)

The term third flush is also sometimes referred to as the autumn harvest. It is carried out during the autumn, during the rainy season.

The autumn harvest is more accurately carried out from September to November. Together with the summer harvest, the autumn harvest is sometimes also referred to as the main growing season. It is also sometimes called autumnal.

Mostly you will see this designation in Indian Darjeeling teas.

For these high-end teas, the time of harvest is crucial to their quality. Darjeeling teas affect the harvest in taste as well. By the third harvest, they are already light and therefore compared by many to green tea.

The aroma is fruity or floral, with hints of chocolate or roasted almonds.
